inspiration for Valentine's Day

I love a good cupcake. I love to make them as much (maybe even more!) as I love to eat them. As I was going back through some old photos, I found this one...

This picture was taken as I preparing for a bridal luncheon for my wonderful friend, Stacy. Three years later, she is a wonderful mother to a beautiful baby girl. But, as Valentine's Day approaches, I thought that I just might need to make these again. They are too cute! The coconut cupcakes were perfect for the occasion, and I threw in the meringue hearts just for fun. So, they look quite cute, but they taste decadent as well...wonderful combination!

So, what do you bake for your sweetie on the sweetest day of the year?

contact information for those adorable bag tags!

Based on all of the comments so far, this giveaway seems to be a HUGE hit! Of course, I wish each one of you could win a bag tag; however, I did not want those who did not win to be left out. So, I am passing along Laney's contact information to you. She can be reached at: laney@triad.rr.com Her tags range in price from $6 for the small tags (like the one on the pool bag), $8 for medium tags (average size for bags), and $10 for the large (luggage - 2 sided) tags. You can work with her on design ideas or simply share with her the colors you are interested in. Then she will design your tag for you! Too fun! Don't forget to leave your comment on the post below http://lannaejohnson.blogspot.com/2009/01/something-fun-for-monday.html before Friday...good luck!

something fun for Monday!

I promised a giveaway, and here it is! My dear friend, Laney, makes the CUTEST tags that can be used to label bags or used as bookmarks. You know we can all use one, or two, or three of these! How cute would they be on your beach bag, your child's bag or your child's teacher's bag? They would also make fantastic gifts for the avid reader or for members of your book club. Let me tempt you with some photos...

I know...I want one of each of them! Now that I have your attention...Laney is going to give away a custom tag to two very lucky people who leave a comment on this post. The two winners will be chosen Friday at 5:00 p.m. by Mr. Random Generator. So, what are you waiting for?!

What is with me these days?

Well, we have not begun digging for a pool, but I did book our trip to the beach yesterday! I am not a fan of cold (I mean really COLD) weather. Today is not a preschool day, and Burke took Walker to school this morning. So, I am home snuggled in with William and thinking about the beach. Just looking at these pictures makes me ready to go! I hope you are all staying warm and that you enjoy a cozy weekend. Check in next week...I sense a giveaway coming up. It will be the
first one of 2009 - FUN!

to dig or not to dig...

There is no denying it...I gave birth to two little fish. They love the water. Always have. We are now contemplating what is quite possibly the inevitable. What is it about making a decision like this when it is going to be down to 18 degrees here this week? I tell you what it is...I'm over winter already, and pool companies are available right now. Sounds like a great fit to me! On a completely different note, I'm going to be coming up with some new designs very soon. I am now the proud owner of a torch. So, look out - there is soldering in my future! Also, I am going to have a some fun giveaways in the very near future from me as well as from some guest creators. So, it is always worth checking in. I sure hope 2009 is off to a good start for everyone!

L.O.V.E

Have I ever mentioned how much I love my boys? I can't remember what life was like before them. I also love my husband, but he is always the one taking the picture. He's probably quite satisfied with never making my blog posts anyway. He is actually putting together tons of photos from the last year. For some reason, he decided to include this one. Maybe because he knows more than anyone just how much I love my boys!

More surprises from Christmas!

Sorry it has taken me a few days to post more pictures of Christmas orders I made. We celebrated the new year with friends, I had a date night with my husband and we spent the entire afternoon in the emergency room yesterday. So, needless to say, we have started 2009 off with a bang! What is it about little boys and trips to the emergency room? My youngest fell off of the beanbag tower he was creating (what is harmless about a beanbag, right?) and hit his head on what has always appeared to me as a very harmless kid's chair. Well, he must have hit it just right to create that 3/4" hole, and I do mean hole, in his head. After 3 1/2 hours in the emergency room, the kind doctor had William's head super-glued back together. Yes, I said super glue! We wrapped him up like a burrito so he could not squirm, and they put layer upon layer of super glue on his head while I blew on it to make the glue dry. Since William was comfortable with daddy, Burke cleaned the wound with the doctor's "special soap," and I blew the glue dry. Do you think we'll get any discount for our participation in putting William back together again?

Hope you'll enjoy the pictures of these pieces. There is more to come. I'm also very excited about my jewelry business in 2009. I've ordered some new things and have everything I need to use a torch...so I'll be heating things up! So, please stay tuned for some very exciting things. Valentine's Day will be hear before we know it, so pick out something you'd like and put a bug in your hubby's ear. It seemed to work for some of you for Christmas!
